Nikon Buckmaster 4X40 Rifle Scope

Readers,

I have been using one of these Nikon 4X40 scopes now for over a year on a Remington 600 in 308 (but shooting NATO FMJ ammo). I also have an older 4X40 Bushnell scope on my Ruger 77 International in 308 as well. I have used these two carbines very successfully to shoot wild hogs in low light conditions. If I can be certain that the black thing I see with my 7X50 binoculars is a hog, usually it is close enough to see to shoot it with the 4X40 scopes.

Well yesterday was my birthday; and it has been a long time since I have bought myself anything besides tobacco and books. So today I ordered three of the Nikon 4X40 rifle scopes, which Naches Shooters Supplies has on sale this month for $99.95. The scopes retail for $175.31.

So, a day late, but "Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me . . ."

P.S. I feel quite certain that the box stores, gun shops, and outdoor sporting goods stores will not recommend this scope to you. However, my more recent posts and photos in the "Boar Tales" section prove the value of the scope/carbine combination in extremely low light conditions.

So, now you need to buy 3 rifles to go under those brand new scopes, eh? The birthday gift that keeps on giving!

I like the way you think!

Chimerix,

Well, I do have one or two rifles on which I could affix the Nikon 4X40 rifle scopes; but on the other hand, Maverick did carry off my 30-06 early last fall , and so now I have a hankering to kill something with the M2 Ball ammo stacked up in the loading room.

You never know what I might come across; but I sure do like that Remington 700 with the plastic stock which Ila shoots.

Eddie,
Congrats on your excellent buy! A year or so ago I found a closeout on a very similar scope, the Nikon Monarch 4X40 and grabbed two of them. Really nice scopes! I mounted one on my M700 Classic in 8x57, thinking it a good match and the second one found it's way atop a CZ 550 Mannlicher in 6.5x55. Nikon makes a good product and the glass in these two is as clear as any of my Leupolds.
